The question now is whether or not it'll be the "revised" old blue & gold era away as mentioned in an August 2006 Press Conference in which Quinn stated that it'll be the third jersey but be phased into the new darker blue & gold color scheme by 2009. Or will it be a redesign of something totally different? Personally I hope it's the darker blue & gold with draw-strings on the front.
Full Version: Third Jersey Confirmed For 2008-2009
According to a Canadian retailer, 18 NHL clubs have confirmed third jerseys for the coming season. I will not divulge my source here because this is just for fun and no one needs to be losing their job over it. If you're skeptical, there's nothing wrong with that.
Anyhow, with the disclaimer out of the way, below are the teams with "confirmed" third jerseys for next season, in alphabetical order.

If we went with the white, then the other team would have to bring dark, and the NHL would get upset.. soooo yea.

Man did they all look so good in the vintage whites at the Ice Bowl. It was great seeing our boys in those jerseys, they looked so sharp!
Just bring back the originals, we haven't won a cup in the new ones yet..

Because we won a cup in the old one? Really... the only time I can actually recollect from Sabres history that the Sabres came closest to the Cup was in 75. We didn't make the finals again until 1999, in the goathead.

We won a total of 4 in the old ones dating back to 1818 when we won our first..

IMO. They should use the 3rd jersey for the alternate again. BUT use the white one, not the blue one, the blue one is just so bland...

I agree. Add some detail to the blue one, and it could be greater, though.
my opinion(i know its impossible for this year)
have the dark(or light, depends on the NHL) slug be introduced as the third, and have the vintage jerseys be our main home and away

I definatly Second that Motion... Think abt it that what... No slug buyers/lovers will end up wasteing their money on the slug jersey... and the Retro fans (such as myself) Get their Vintage back... Win - Win situation.

I like this as the first step in moving the slug out altogether. However, management will see it that way, as well, so it is highly unlikely until the team is under new leadership.

Why would the NHL get upset its not that big of a nuisance. They carry their home and aways every where they go. Not to mention the team has to let the NHL know when they will be wearing the Thirds so they will know ahead of time. And to whoever suggested the gold shirts for the playoffs would be SIIIIIICK.

If we make the playoffs, fans should get Blue and Gold shirts, it would be a sweet sight....Something of that nature. White shirts doesnt do anything since the visiting team wears white. Sea of Gold baby!

the new rbk edge jerseys weren't unveiled until september, right? i guess i wouldn't be surprised to see the same timeframe for the new thirds.
i don't know what to speculate on the sabres jerseys.. you guys know much more than i. maybe you'll get a blue slug this time.
for the sharks, i'm hoping it'll be the home jersey with the black and teal switched, and either the sj shield or the full shark as the chest logo.

They will be unvailed September 20th? Wonderful-does anyone else smell the mad rush for vintage jerseys again with backorder times measured in months? Just like 2 years ago when it was literally impossible to get a vintage.
They should bring back the old alternate red jerseys. Those were sharp.

Sharp but we don't wear those colors anymore. I like owning one, but the whole NHL is black and red black and white blah blah blah. I thought when we had the OG jerseys we actually stood out.

Apparently, it's gonna be an "updated" vintage logo, with more silver lining and navy as the primary color, rather than royal blue.

I'd like to see all the NHL teams either revert to "Original Six" iniforms or jerseys at the roots of the teams existance!! The same way MLB does!! To top it off, have both teams have "throwback nights"! Even put the refs in the the old garb! I know they did it before, so whay drop it??? Gotta love Sponge Gary Cheese Pants Betteman!!!

For the most part the original six teams still use their "Original Six" uniform, or something very close to it.

They're going to be using the current blue and gold color scheme. Which is actually midnight blue and maize on the color spectrum.
