Hello, everyone. First, let me introduce myself. My name is Elliott, I live in Atlanta GA, and although I am not a HUGE Sabres fan, I am a Sabres fan. I'm really more die-hard for the Thrashers and Coyotes, though. Anyway, I spend a lot of time over at boards.sportslogos.net, which is Chris Creamers Sports Logos Community, or CCSLC (so even though I might be a noob here, I am not a noob to message boards). There, logos and jerseys are discussed; designers and aspiring designers post there jersey/logo ideas in the concept forum, too. So, I post a lot of jerseys over there, I just came up with a new design for the Sabres, and I wanted to share it with you guys. You even get to see it before my buddies at the CCSLC, so you have to be very honored

.
I know most people hate the slug logo, so I didn't include it. The primary logo is the shoulder logo, slightly modified. I rounded off the edges, got rid of all the outlines on the yellow part, and got rid of some of the sword detailing. The secondary logo is the retro logo, also modified, with some different outlines on the circle and silver in the buffalo.
Here is the new logo sheet:

When the Edge jerseys came out, they really didn't go with many modern designs. Unless of course Reebok considers piping ultra-modern. But really, the Sabres are one of the only teams with a template we've never seen before. I decided to come up with a pretty modern template for this concept. Here is the uniform set:

I hope you like it. All criticism is welcome. These were done in Illustrator btw.

I like the jersy's, but anything short of the original (or updated original logo) doesn't work.
That being said; your concept jersey is a huge improvement over the current one....

The design on the bottom of the jersey makes the diaper looking edge jersey even worse =/

Not bad at all. Although I must say, that when you have the Dark jerseys 2nd logo being the Old Logo but the Buffalo is Dark, I really dont like that, these jerseys are 90% better than what we have now, but I agree with Tojo the bottom kinda does look like a diaper. But good work overall! You get an A for the day.

I don't like the "B" as the primary logo. Not to sure about how you inverted the original logo colors, but hey it's better than that yellow thing we have.

Triple it, I don't like the B as a primary logo, It only suits as a secondary logo.

Compared to the Slug the "B" is a wonderful logo. I also want all gray taken out of the unis...doesn't match at all.

Sorry like the Slug better than this. The B is a nice shoulder crest or an alternative jersey but NO primary. Don't like the inverse as well. Ah well we shall see..

10 times better then what we have now. Love your idea, but try putting the red and black buffalo head in between the sabres and the B and sabre on the sleeves and see what that might look like. You would have a little part of all 3 sweaters and now form the new ones. Maybe that would look cool. Just trying to get by until the start of the season.

I once read the sabre is offensive and should not be displayed. I believe it was a teacher that was asked by the principal to not wear the jersey anymore on dress down day because it portrayed violence.
I dont fall for that crap. I like the slug. Sorry people.

I think the B with the sword through it is one of those rare designs that makes for a great primary or secondary logo. Using it as the main crest with the pie plate logo on the sleeves/shoulders really might look pretty cool. As for the slug logo, again, Helen Keller in a coma could have designed a better logo.

These are pretty nice, although the B...definitely serves more of a shoulder logo, that's how it was designed, and I believe that's how it works best. If you're going to have a version of the original logo on the shoulder...might as well just make it the main logo.
That being said, I do like the "slug," and will continue to buy "slug" merchandise until a new logo comes out and I'll start buying that.

nice very interesting. too bad the sabres don't have a design the jersey contest. you'd think it would be a good public relations move and sell a good deal of jerseys if the jerseys were designed by a fan. almost like the team giving back. even if it was just the third jersey, designed by a fan.

You need to calm down...it's just a logo...and I really don't get what's so horrible about it. So it's not as good as the original? No kidding. How many teams are still using their original logo...not that many outside of the original 6. So long as it's not something as bad as Nashville's "gold" jersey like in 06-07...I really don't care what the jerseys and the logo looks like...it's just a logo. And I actually like the current one...and unless they make the outfits a pink dress (

) I will buy the next style of jersey they come out with...as it's the Sabres.
I'm not questioning your "loyalty" as fans because you refuse to buy the "slug" merchandise (in case that's what you got out of what I said) but what I don't approve of is the chastisement and ridicule of those who do like the logo, and do buy products with the logo on it. It's an opinion...no matter how vastly you feel about it one way or the other...it will never be fact..only a matter of opinion. Some people seem to forget that.

Besides hating the logo what I hate even more is how the management released it anyway even after all the protest. They spun around the protest into "passion" and threw a couple extra games at the mob wearing the throwbacks. They even said they didn't have the uniforms to show people at the press conference when they announced it. They are a bunch of backtrackers.
Where do you think that logo would be if they didn't start 10-0 and win a president's trophy and have a deep playoff run? It created the perfect storm of frenzied fans willing to empty out their wallets not all necessarily for a look they like, but mostly out of loyalty to the club. Winning would sell crap filled hats. That is a fact.

I like these somewhat - but I don't think using the B as a primary is a good idea.
personally, I'm kinda torn between the new jerseys and the classics.
I love the classic jersey. It's tradition and history are great (even without a Cup)...but all the same, it is "history" and nothing more.
I like the futuristic design of the new jerseys. Yeah, the slug is a little strange, but still unique and maybe a little bit clever in having it look like a tilted "B".
But really, why not just use the crest from the Red 3rd jerseys of the Goathead era and use the new colors? I always thought this was the best of the new designs as it combines new and old. I like the slug, but seriously, why use it when you had a perfectly good design to start with?
IMO - I wish Tommy G would have opted for the designs from celsiusdesign guy (http://www.newblueandgold.com/). I really like his "modern versions" (# 3 & 4).
That all being said - regardless of how I or anyone feels about the hyper-slug, we are stuck with it for the time being. Let's just hope the 3rd jersey for this year pans out.

It's more than a logo; it represents our city, and who we are.
The slug is plain and simply pathetic. It represents neither our city or us. If some of the Johnny come lately fans like it; then good for them - they like something that I despise.
Elliot, your concept is vastly superior to the current logo.
That being said, the original logo is still the best.
The second best is the updated version of the original crest.
As someone already mentioned, if the slug hadn't arrived at a time where the team reached new heights of popularity, it would have died the quick death it deserved. Heck; it never even should have seen the light of day.....
