Its nice to see the Sabres to have their vintage blue jersey as their third jersey again. What I'm not happy about is that a lot of the third jerseys the other teams are getting will have words in front of them like the Canucks' current Jersey.

Here's what Berger said on his blog on HockeyBuzz:

BUFFALO: The Sabres will bring back their original road jersey – the blue design with the round “cross-sword” logo on the front, and the three gold stripes on the arms and the bottom of the jersey. It’s the uniform the Sabres’ first GM/coach, George (Punch) Imlach, requested; a design similar to that which Imlach's Maple Leafs had from the 1967 playoffs through 1969-70. And, it’s the jersey Buffalo wore during road games from the beginning of the franchise in 1970-71 to the end of the 1995-96 season. Beginning in 1996-97, the Sabres switched to a black, red and white uniform, and completely redesigned their logo. Another redesign occurred prior to the 2006-07 campaign, with the team returning to its blue and gold color scheme.

Lawrence Quinn announced months ago that the new alternate would be the classic blue jersey. Only difference is it will be in the blue and gold colors of the current primary jerseys.

Hopefully sales will speak volumes about how passionate most Buffalo Fans are for their vintage Sabres Jerseys.

I read somewhere that they will be unveiled when tickets go onsale to the public, which is September 20th I believe?

I'm not liking that they'll be in the new darker blue but we'll take what we can get, I guess.

I wanted the white jerseys... but oh well at least its Vintage...

Chalk it up to a crappy picture, but I'm not liking the silver accents in the logo and the crowded border around the bison and sabres. Again, it's a horrible picture though.

I hope you are wrong about the front numbers.

I hope I am too but I think they will be on there to help make the jersey just different enough from the royal blue versions to persuade people to buy them.

Awesome set.... I think the handles on the sabres are the modernized jewelled version (similar to humanot's), As much as this is just a marketing ploy by Reebok, if they look half as good as yours, I will be at the front of the line to buy one. God, that's sharp lookin'

At least it's a ploy that gives most of the fans what they want and expect for the Sabres' third jersey.

Maybe the whole RBK Edge debacle woke them up a bit.

Heck, maybe it did, they are calling themselves Reebok again!

Indeed strings look good on almost all of the jerseys that have them.
And yes a white one would like nice! I would like to see that to if possible!

I wish the league would go back to white at home. It is so stupid to have fan "white-outs" during the playoffs when the visiting team are the ones wearing white.

See, I've always been a fan of the dark homes. It makes it an easy switch to third jerseys (for most teams at least) and the "white-out" problem may simply be fixed by taking a Calgary or Washington approach and just wearing our team colors throughout the playoffs.

If they went back to the white home jersey the third jersey would be white also. This would make the vintage white sweater, the best uniform in sports history, our alternate!

The front number was on the retro's in 06-07.

If those were our primary jerseys, I'd be all for them. However, as third jerseys go, I like the retro look, and the only thing that will do that is royal blue and gold. Not navy blue and maize.

And Quin said that would not work what a joke this guy is!!!! I love it should b our main logo and jersey!!! good work man just plain good work!!!!

NO MORE SLUGS! Im hoping that this is the beginning of the end of that wretched jersey we have now. The slug's color is piss yellow too. Still bitter about it.......
